Once a Newcastle player, Davide Santon’s second stay at Inter Milan wasn’t quite as romantic as he thought it would be, with Roberto Mancini eventually using him merely as a rotation player for the 2015-16 season.

Wanting more than just the occasional game here and there, the 25-year-old has been linked with a move away from Inter, and a return to the Premier League was strongly anticipated.

The player was even all ready to move to Sunderland, with TuttoMercatoWeb reporting the player was travelling to England to complete a move to the north of England.

That collapsed, and a quick follow-up from Gazzetta dello Sport suggested Middlesbrough could pick up the pieces.

However, that seems to be completely off the cards now as Sky Italia, relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, say the player has been offered a five-year contract offer by Napoli worth €1m/year.

Davide Santon is said as wanting a little bit more than that, and all parties involved are expected to meet up again soon for further negotiations.

As things stand, it seems Davide Santon is edging further and further away from a Premier League return.
