Inter Milan defender Davide Santon will sign for Sunderland tomorrow, according to claims in the Italian media. Earlier today we covered reports from Italy that the former Newcastle United full back was close to a move to Sunderland.

TMW have now confirmed Santon has left Inter Milan’s pre-season training camp in order to travel to England. It’s been revealed unless there are any sudden complications the Italy international will become a Sunderland player on Friday.

Santon has been linked with a move away from the San Siro in recent months, to clubs including Watford and Crystal Palace. Serie A side Sampdoria have also been showing an interest, but Inter Milan weren’t interested in loaning out the defender.

Since Roberto Mancini was installed as the Inter Milan coach last year, Santon has seen himself frozen out of the team. Santon made just 12 appearances for Inter Milan in the last campaign, and needs to move away from the San Siro in order to kick-start his career.
