Brighton & Hove Albion are today suddenly linked to Fiorentina midfielder Alfred Duncan.
The reason for it is a story from Firenze Viola, who claim that the player’s wife paid a visit to the Seagulls at the weekend.
It’s pointed out that no one knows why she was there, and since she was accompanied by Duncan’s agent, that’s now pointed out as a possible ‘destination’.
The midfielder previously played for Sassuolo under the current Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, so there’s another reason to fuel the rumours. Plus, his former Fiorentina teammate Igor Julio is also at the Premier League side.
Duncan’s contract with the Serie A expires at the end of the season, and as he was seen in tears when they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia, it’s pointed out he might have been so sad because that was his last chance to win a title at the club.
So even though the local media is still to say something about Brighton actually opening negotiations to sign him, they believe that could be a possibility. Firenze Viola says ‘the next few hours are decisive’.
