Palermo have joined the race to sign Ternana forward Felipe Avenatti, according to claims in Italy. The Uruguayan forward has been linked with a move away from Ternana this summer, with Leeds United being one of those clubs interested in the 23-year-old.
The Sicilian side were nearly relegated to Serie B last season, and subsequently the club’s leaders are looking to bring in new players under the guidance of new sporting director Daniele Faggiano.
Palermo recently released former Italy international Alberto Gilardino, and Avenatti could come in to fill this void.
Last month we covered reports from Italy that Leeds United are increasingly insistent on signing Avenatti in this transfer window, with claims there has been contact.
The South American only has 12 months left on his contract with the Italian side, and they could be forced to sell this summer in order to get a decent transfer fee.
The Championship side were tracking the forward in the last summer transfer window, along with Aston Villa, but the player took the decision to remain in Italy.
