While the transfer of Samu Saiz from Huesca to Leeds United was apparently expected to be done ‘by Monday’, no announcement has been made yet, and Aragon TV in Spain might have revealed the reason why.
However, Aragon TV also state that one of Saiz’s teammates at Huesca, Alexander Gonzalez, is expected to ‘follow him on his adventure to the Championship’.
No specific club is mentioned, which leads us to believe that by ‘following him’, they mean to Leeds United, rather than just wandering around England’s second-tier without a club.
Arriving from Young Boys in Switzerland on a free in January 2016, the 24-year-old is a right-midfielder with 45 Venezuela caps under his belt who made 35 appearances for Huesca in La Liga2 last season, scoring four goals and picking up one assist.
It could very well be that with Samu Saiz’s deal all but done, Leeds United are now working to bring Gonzalez to Elland Road as well, and want to announce both in a double deal.
This would explain the delay on making the former’s transfer official, something the Spanish press expected to be done by now.
With one year left on his deal at Huesca, we doubt Gonzalez will cost any more than the €3.5m reported for Samu Saiz, meaning getting both for under €7m could be a possibility.
Let’s wait and see.
