Harry Kane issued a plea to the Bundesliga following his side’s 3-0 win over Mainz.
The striker was not among the goals as Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top of the German table.
Leroy Sane, Michael Olise, and Eric Dier led Bayern to victory, getting on the scoresheet one apiece, while Kane got a yellow card for his efforts.
And after the match, the England captain voiced his displeasure, both for the booking as well as the one-game ban.
Indeed, his yellow means Kane won’t feature in his club’s forthcoming game against RB Leipzig – an encounter that could see Die Roten lift the league trophy.
Speaking to SportsBild after the Mainz win, the 31-year-old said: “That’s why I’m really disappointed that I got the yellow card, because of course I knew I already had four. And secondly, I think the rule is crazy anyway. Five yellow cards in 34 games means a suspension. That’s crazy.”
Kane then asked that the Bundesliga implement rules currently set out in the Premier League, the competition he used to feature in for Spurs.
“They should be re-regulated like in the Premier League,” he continued. “I’m missing an important game because I received a yellow card in the first game of the season. That doesn’t make sense. Maybe they should reconsider that for the future.”
