Starting the game against Manchester United, Tottenham loanee Tanguy Ndombele was subbed off in the 60th minute, with a few fans whistling him off the pitch.
His team were down 3-1 at that point, and the fact the supporters weren’t behind him will have only added some fuel to the criticism he has been receiving since his arrival in Turkey.
It’s mostly been about the Tottenham man’s weight, and his lack of performance on the pitch, but that isn’t something the club are worried about, as one of the team doctors had a chat with Ajansspor about the situation.
He is quoted as saying: “Yes, he is a little overweight, but we will reduce it. There is no exaggeration. He trained at Tottenham in this form. We have his reports from Tottenham and Napoli. This is how he weighed when he was at his fittest.”
Ajansspor suggest that Ndombele is currently at 16% body fat, which is a bit more than the 11% a ‘normal footballer should have’.
Still, it’s not something Galatasaray seem overly concerned with, and it could just be that a bit more work gets the Tottenham player exactly where he needs to be to impress during the second half of the campaign.
Since arriving in Turkey, the midfielder has made nine appearances in all competitions, failing to either score a goal or get an assist so far.
