Having sold Declan Rice this summer to Arsenal, West Ham United did sign Edson Alvarez to try and compensate for the gap left by the England international’s exit.
The Mexico international has made a number of appearances for the Hammers since his arrival, but that doesn’t mean the Premier League club will stop their recruiting there.
According to Corriere dello Sport, West Ham are interested in Ardon Jashari, a 21-year-old defensive midfielder currently playing for FC Luzern in Switzerland.
This comes as part of an article recalling that he once came close to a move to Serie A, as he ‘continues to be one of Switzerland’s most promising midfielders’.
They add that West Ham and Villarreal are ‘courting him’, pointing out that Murat Yakin, the national team manager, has ‘already tried him out’ for the national team.
Describing the young player, they praise his ability to ‘recover a lot of balls’, which he is then able to either deliver to the person next to him or ping forward with precision to set up an attacking move.
There’s a reason why he has been given the armband by his manager at such a young age for some recent games, and that’s why West Ham clearly like what they see.
As for the price? That’s the enticing part since he could cost a mere €6m. One to keep an eye on.
