Back during the summer transfer window, Celtic were said to have made an approach for Lens defender Jean-Kevin Duverne.

An offer of €5.5m was being reported by L’Equipe, but no transfer ever happened, even if the Ligue 2 side were said to being ‘favourable’ to a transfer for that amount.

Well, that hasn’t changed, with La Voix du Nord reporting Lens wouldn’t be against a transfer for the 20-year-old in January if they received the right offer.

This certainly could interest Brendan Rodgers, who, despite already signing Marvin Compper, might not want to pass up an opportunity to bring in a talented youngster for the future, especially one the club might be able to make a profit on down the line.

After the Virgil Van Dijk success of turning a £2.7m purchase into a £14m+ sale in just over two years, Duverne could follow in the Dutchman’s footsteps.

Celtic just need to show Lens the money.

Despite this seemingly openness about a transfer, Lens have heavily relied on Duverne so far this season, playing him in all but three games.
