On Saturday L’Equipe reported a Celtic approach for Jean-Kevin Duverne. It’s no surprise they also mention the pursuit in their Sunday edition, giving things a little update.

Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have made an offer of €5.5m for the 19 year old, and his current club Lens could be ‘favourable’ to selling the player for such an amount this summer.

With Duverne on a contract until June 2019, Lens are under no immediate pressure to agree to a deal, and with interest in the player widespread, it may be considered early for the French club to sell.

Nevertheless, L’Equipe certainly seem to believe there’s a good chance of Lens accepting Celtic’s money and sending Duverne off to the Scottish Premiership.

Despite the competition, and potential higher price, Celtic’s €5.5m is still a good amount for a player in France’s Ligue 2, and Lens could be deciding to take the money rather than gamble on another club coming in with more.

Given there’s ‘much interest’, Celtic are probably advised to get this one over the line as quickly as possible.
