There is no denying that, as things stand, Manchester United need some help, whether it be in defence or midfield.
Many members of the fanbase are calling out for a defensive midfielder, and it appears the club are aware of this, constantly linked with players ahead of the January transfer window, such as Denis Zakaria or even Marcelo Brozović.
Both of those are in a similar contractual situation to Paul Pogba, meaning their deals expire at the end of the season, making them rather easy targets for clubs looking for a free transfer.
The Croatian, however, has always let it known he would ideally like to stay at Inter, but only in the right conditions, which the Serie A side have yet to meet.
Gazzetta dello Sport look at the situation on Thursday, explaining that a first meeting between the player’s agents and the Italian club has taken place, with a ‘mutual feeling that there is room for a renewal’.
Figures have yet to be discussed, but there’s also a warning that clubs are interested in signing Brozovic, and it’s pointed out that his head ‘is in danger of spinning a little too much’, as Paris Saint-Germain, Atlético Madrid and ‘most recently Manchester United’ are all interested.
It seems the Red Devils are sniffing around, and that could have something to do with Mino Raiola recently hinting Paul Pogba could end up leaving.
Either way, United are the latest, according to Gazzetta, to join the race for Brozovic.
