We’re now entering the fourth week of the January transfer window, and Sporting still couldn’t do much to take Tiago Ilori from Reading.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has a story today reporting the very same things that had been written a couple of weeks ago.

Sporting are said to still be planning to sign the player, but are struggling to match Reading’s asking price, which would be €3m.

The defender himself is said to be willing to make the move, but can’t do much while the clubs don’t come to an agreement.

A Bola now says that the biggest problem is José Gomes, who’s not letting Ilori leave unless Reading sign a replacement first.

Last week, it had been reported that the Royals were looking for a substitute, but it seems things haven’t advanced so far.

As Ilori isn’t expected to have a starting spot at Sporting, it’s unlikely that they will make a big financial effort to get the deal over the line.
