Liverpool sealed their first league win of this calendar year against Everton at Anfield earlier this week.

The Reds registered a 2-0 victory and the result meant Sean Dyche suffered his first defeat as the Toffees manager.

Rafael Benitez has managed both Liverpool and Everton in his managerial career and is currently without a job since leaving Goodison Park in January 2022.

The 62-year-old started his coaching career at Real Madrid’s academy and managed their first team during the first half of the 2015/16 season.

His former teams, Liverpool and Los Blancos, will face each other in the Champions League round of 16 tie next Tuesday.

Onda Cero had a chat with the Spaniard, where he shared his views on Liverpool’s derby win over Everton.

“I saw Liverpool-Everton and I think it was very important for Liverpool because they have reconnected with the sensations. But they have lost many pieces,” he said.

Benitez has also issued a warning to Liverpool for the upcoming European clash against Real Madrid.

“If Madrid manages to get out of the pressure by touching and finds Arnold’s back, they will be hurt there. The players who are recovering are not going to arrive with the rhythm of the competition,” Benitez explained.
