Tottenham have ‘opened the door’ for defender Sergio Reguilón to leave the club this summer as new manager Ange Postecoglou ‘does not trust’ him.

That’s according to El Confidencial, who cover the player today and how he is going through his ‘worst moment in football.’

They explain that the full-back finds himself in a ‘delicate situation’ this summer after a season long loan spell at Atlético de Madrid did not help him to get his career back on track.

He was unable to feature much for Diego Simeone’s side due to various injuries, did not earn the trust of the Argentine manager or the love of the fans, who could not accept him for his past at Real Madrid.

The only way he could have turned that around was with performances on the pitch, but they weren’t there and he’s returning to Tottenham this summer as a result.

His future there looks equally bleak, though, as new Spurs manager Postecoglou ‘does not trust Reguilón either’.

That’s why the doors to a transfer have been opened to him, with the player said to be actively looking for a club in La Liga where he can get his career back on track.

He was once one of the hottest prospects at Real Madrid, but his career has been ‘going downhill’ since he left the Spanish giants for Tottenham and at 26-years-old he now needs to try and turn things around.

He cost Spurs €30m but is now valued at just €10m, although finding a club willing to pay even that low amount may be difficult.

Osasuna are one of the sides considering giving him an opportunity but they’re waiting to see what conditions Tottenham will ask for, the player’s salary demands and even what his physical condition is after spending most of this season injured at Atlético.

Either way it appears he has no future at Tottenham, who are keen to move him on and put this completely failed transfer behind them.
