The Portuguese press is still not happy over the referee’s decisions in the game between Liverpool and Porto on Tuesday.
In the post-match stories, we’ve already seen local newspapers blaming the officials for the result, saying different decisions would have been taken had a couple of incidents been for the other team.
And today, newspaper O Jogo insists a little bit more on the matter, this time trying to find out if Mohamed Salah could still be punished in the competition.
That’s all because of Salah’s challenge on Danilo, with the Liverpool player hitting the midfielder’s leg with the sole of his boot.
O Jogo went after UEFA’s rules to know if the Egyptian could still be suspended for the next match, but found out that the referee’s decisions in the game cannot be altered afterwards.
The newspaper also takes some claims from British outlets such as The Independent and BT Sport as they all agree that Salah should’ve been sent off.
After the match, Porto goalkeeper Iker Casillas had also complained about the play. Although he didn’t write anything about it, he included pictures of the referee’s controversial calls in a tweet where he says there’s hope for the second leg.
