Although it’s been a while since Manchester United last got mentioned in the race for Ruben Dias and João Félix from Benfica, the Red Devils are not forgotten.
On Tuesday, newspaper Record brings a story saying agent Jorge Mendes is set to meet Juventus in Turin to negotiate the Eagles’ duo.
And even though things look pretty advanced for the Old Lady, Record still names Manchester United as the other club who have been ‘in talks’ to sign the duo.
Benfica’s intention is to make €180m with the double sale, since Ruben Dias is protected by a €60m release clause, while João Félix’s tag price is €120m.
Record writes that Benfica know there are ‘clubs’ willing to pay both players’ release clauses, so Juventus are aware there’s not much room for negotiation.
Manchester United had previously been named as one of these clubs, and for now, they look like the only threat to stop the duo from joining the Turin side.
