Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias today features a short interview with Antonio Miguel Cardoso, president of Vitória Guimarães, who talked about the club’s transfer business this summer.
When speaking of midfielder André Almeida, the newspaper points out the player has recently been linked to the likes of Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers, which is when the club chief claims they have yet to receive a convincing bid for the player.
“The values presented are still far from what we understand to be the real value,” Cardoso told Jornal de Notícias.
It was in May and June that the Portuguese media featured a couple of reports claiming Wolves are considering making a bid for Almeida.
Those stories pointed out he could be a cheap option for the Molineux side, with claims saying he could cost between €4m and €6m.
However, that’s unlikely to happen, especially because Porto seem to be very keen on the signing as well.
Today, newspaper Correio da Manhã features a story claiming Vitória are now demanding €9m for his transfer.
If the Dragons want to pay less, then they’d only take €5m if another player is added in the deal.
So perhaps that’s a chance for Wolves to show up and try to get to an agreement with just cash.
