The Portuguese press usually gets a lot of stick for encouraging transfers that don’t always happen, but we should also pay attention when they do the opposite.

Today, newspaper Record brings a headline saying ‘Keizer counts on Bruno’, meaning the Sporting manager expects the midfielder to play against Benfica this weekend.

Record brings some information about the Manchester United saga, claiming it’s unlikely the captain would leave the Lisbon side in the next few days.

Firstly, there’s no formal offer. Although Correio da Manhã says today that agent Miguel Pinho arrived in Lisbon last weekend with a bid from Manchester United, Record insists that nothing has been delivered, ‘regardless of what the English press’ has been saying.

Something very interesting is that Record also denied Bruno’s tears, despite the player being supposedly spotted crying after the match against Valencia on Sunday.

They say that after watching the video and speaking to some sources, they concluded that Bruno finished the game ‘exhausted and sweaty’, but not in tears.

It’s claimed that the player got emotional for receiving such an ovation from the fans, but it’s ‘exaggerated’ to believe he would cry like that, partly because that wasn’t his last match for the club.
