Tottenham were repeatedly linked to Tanguy Ndombele in the summer, and despite Spurs not moving in the market during the last window, there seemed to be something in their interest in the Lyon player.
In March it was reported in France that both Tottenham and Arsenal were keen on the player, and then in May Ndombele was said to be ‘arousing the interest’ of Spurs.
An initial price tag of €25m was starting to look ridiculously optimistic from a buying perspective, and L’Equipe made it clear that Lyon weren’t keen to sell the midfielder.
Links continued over the window and in August it was reported Tottenham ‘could be tempted’ to make a late move for the player, with the claims coming from France again.
Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe reports Mauricio Pochettino is one of the managers to have ‘fallen under the spell’ of Ndombele. He’s much wanted and his progression could see him in the France squad soon.
This backs up the claims of Tottenham’s transfer plans, but also gives good grounds for Lyon to raise a potential price even further.
