The hype surrounding Antonio, or Tony for short, Sanabria has been rather big ever since the player emerged as one of the more promising talents from Barcelona’s youth academy.
Moving to AS Roma after a very brief spell with Sassuolo, the Paraguayan striker spent last season on loan with Sporting Gijón, where he scored 11 goals in 30 appearances.
This vein of form has piqued Barcelona’s interest to bring him back, and Sport on Tuesday state the Catalan club have made it clear to the player they would like to see him return, seeing him as an ideal replacement in the long run for Luis Suarez.
The player is apparently quite open to a return to Barcelona, yet Mauricio Pochettino is apparently also interested in bringing him to Tottenham as he keeps looking for a backup for Harry Kane.
The Argentinean manager, who spent some of his holiday time in Barcelona recently before heading off to Ibiza, allegedly called the player to make him aware of Spurs’ interest to sign him.
Arsenal and Leicester are also reported as being interested, but it seems Pochettino is the one to have made the first step, but the player’s agents refuse to make a move just yet.
Their plan for now is to simply listen to some of the offers and wait and see what Roma have to say about all of this.
We don’t like waiting…
Tom Coast.
