Giorgi Mamardashvili is not guaranteed to move to Liverpool this summer, unless Alisson departs, and the number one shirt is up for grabs.

That’s according to Cadena SER, via Estadio Deportivo, who report that Valencia would like to keep the goalkeeper for another year also.

They explain that Mamardashvili will be one of the biggest names in Valencia’s upcoming transfer window as the Georgian goalkeeper must decide his future.

He needs to choose between returning to Liverpool or staying at Valencia for another year. The Spanish side would like to keep him so they can plan their squad around him next season.

However, Mamardashvili would like to secure a better deal at the Mestalla. He does not want to stay at Valencia under his current terms as he is losing a lot of money in the current loan deal from Liverpool. That’s despite him being one of the highest paid in the Valencia squad.

That’s led to him considering the move to Anfield this summer, but he doesn’t want to be on the bench if Alisson does not depart. He would prefer to stay in Spain, where he is first choice, until the Brazilian heads elsewhere in that scenario.

Its left his future ‘up in the air’, with him waiting to see if Valencia offer better terms or Liverpool ensure he’ll be number one before deciding between the two.

Now we should point out this directly contradicts Super Deporte, a Valencian newspaper, who stated this week that he’s going to Liverpool, and it’s all done.

We’d be inclined to believe them on that front so will take this latest report with a pinch of salt for the time being.
