SportBild don’t appear to have any doubt at all that Divock Origi will be returning to Liverpool very soon indeed.

Loaned to Wolfsburg for the season, on a deal that was financially good for Liverpool, the Belgian striker hasn’t managed to do enough to make the club want to keep him.

There’s been questions about his attitude in the German media, and it’s fair to say the loan has been a disappointment. Five goals and two assists are not what Wolfsburg expected for their money, and they’re already considering alternatives.

SportBild say Origi’s arrival at Liverpool is ‘imminent’, and Wolfsburg are looking at RB Leipzig’s Yussuf Poulsen as a potential replacement.

Now Liverpool have the question of what to do with the striker. At 23 years of age he needs to be getting regular games and it’s unlikely he’ll get that under Jurgen Klopp unless there’s a spate of injuries.

Origi’s contract at Anfield runs until June 2019, showing there’s even further need for a frank discussion on what the footballer’s next step is.
