On June 3rd, Mundo Deportivo reported that Manchester City’s interest in Sergio Roberto is ‘on record’ and Txiki Begiristain has already initiated contact with Barcelona for his signing.
Today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo once again explains the Spain international is an ‘object of interest’ for the Premier League winners.
It’s claimed the versatile player, who can operate as a fullback or a midfielder, is liked by Pep Guardiola’s side.
Nélson Semedo and Roberto are the two right-backs at the Catalan club and the Portugal international is also attracting interest from elsewhere. Quique Setién’s side are analysing the situation because the position needs reinforcing, if either of them end up leaving.
According to the report, Roberto would ‘only leave’ Barcelona for a team that is managed by Guardiola. Should he receive a call from the City manager, he would be willing to change clubs.
The 28-year-old came up through the ranks of the Catalan club’s youth system before making his way into the first team when Guardiola was in charge of the Spanish champions.
He has rejected important offers in the past and has left the door open to join a club that is managed by Guardiola.
Despite Manchester City being interested in the Spaniard, Mundo states there’s been no concrete moves yet.
