Nottingham Forest midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré had ‘tears in his eyes’ when saying goodbye to PSV Eindhoven on deadline day.
That’s according to his former teammate Isaac Babadi, who admits he was moved by the midfielder’s ‘emotional’ farewell to the Dutch club.
Sangaré joined Nottingham Forest as one of seven new signings on deadline day of the summer transfer window last week.
The move came at the end of a summer-long pursuit from Nottingham Forest, who had been keen to get the PSV star for some time and worked hard to ensure they were still in the running by the end of the window.
He very much established himself as a key player and firm fan favourite over the following three years and it appears the feeling was mutual, with it reported over the weekend that he had been emotional when saying his goodbyes.
Babadi has now confirmed that was the case, praising his former teammate for the speech he gave to him and the rest of the squad.
“He stood with tears in his eyes during the farewell speech,” he told Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
“That was very impressive and emotional. Ibrahim was also like a big brother to me and perhaps my favorite. Now I have to use his words and lessons to grow myself.”
