It seems the Argentine press is now not even considering the idea of seeing Sergio Romero returning to his home country.
The player had been linked to his former club Racing this week, but quickly said the move would be quite unlikely, since the Manchester United back-up has other offers to stay in England.
And as Olé analyse the national team players who aren’t having the ideal amount of playing time, they have a paragraph about the goalkeeper.
Olé writes that for being unhappy with his few appearances, Romero should indeed seek a move in the January window. But they only mention a loan transfer, as if a permanent sale was off the table.
Regarding the interested clubs, Olé doesn’t even mention Racing this time, and also doesn’t seem to have any info on which English clubs would want him.
They only name Deportivo La Coruña, who were linked to the goalkeeper by the Spanish press last week.
The Manchester United squad player didn’t tell Olé who were the English clubs interested when speaking to them earlier this week, leaving the interest unnamed.
Romero was said to have told the Argentine newspaper he has offers in England, but didn’t elaborate. Is there any Premier League club ready to change goalkeepers in the middle of the season, or was the Argentina international just bluffing?
