Manchester City announced the signing of Fluminense wonderkid Kayky at the weekend, who’s expected to move to the Premier League side in January 2022.
It’s been just a few months since the winger made his debut for the Brazilian side, and his few games have been enough to prove the big potential he has.
That’s the reason why many Fluminense fans are angry with the sale, as the player hasn’t had a full season with the club before being sold. Now with a Copa Libertadores campaign ahead, they feel like they must enjoy every minute they have with him in the team.
A column from Tribuna de Minas describes that feeling today. Signed by journalist Gabriel Ferreira Borges, the text points out that a huge talent is leaving Brazil too soon and for too little, since the initial reported fee is only €10m.
“Debuted, seduced, subdued and left. Kayky was sold to Manchester City like a sack of soybeans. There was no time for auction. Kayky will leave Fluminense as the youngest to defend the tricolor ranks in the Libertadores de América,” the piece says.
The journalist shows he understands the player’s decision to leave, but regrets the fact that he’s having so little chances to play for the Rio de Janeiro side before saying farewell.
“May his spell be as fleeting as a summer love in adolescence.”
