Ricardo Pereira to Leicester City is done. Hurrah!
In one of the more straightforward transfers of the summer, Leicester were able to get business agreed quickly with Porto.
The Foxes are paying €20m plus a further €5m in bonuses, which would hit Pereira’s full €25m release clause.
With the fullback only having a year of contract left, and with Porto needing money to help them swerve FFP issues, Leicester may have been able to get Pereira even cheaper, but they absolutely did the right thing by not going down the route of a silly low offer.
Saving a million here or there really wasn’t worth the risk of losing the player on this one.
O Jogo report Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig also wanted to sign Pereira, but he snubbed them for Leicester.
Interestingly, the Portuguese newspaper reveal Porto will be receiving 88% of the transfer fee, and the player’s agent Pedro Falcao will be getting the other 12%.
Porto are happy, Leicester City are happy, the player and his agent are happy… why can’t all transfers be this smooth?
