Chadi Riad is set for a medical at Crystal Palace next week after they struck an agreement with Real Betis for the youngster.

That’s according to AS, who say the defender ‘will undergo medical tests next week’ after a €14m deal was agreed between the two clubs.

The newspaper reports that Crystal Palace’s push to sign Riad this week has finally reached a positive conclusion, with the two sides agreeing a €14m deal for him.

Betis have been keen to seal a deal for the 20-year-old, who has attracted the attention of several clubs this summer after impressing on loan at Betis from Barcelona this season.

They’re paying €3m to sign him permanently before then selling him on to Crystal Palace for a profit, 50% of which will be going back to Barcelona because of a clause in that initial loan agreement.

The deal represents a positive economic move for the Spanish side, though, hence their openness to discussions this week and the quick progress that has been made in them.

Chadi will now travel to England next week to undergo a medical and sign his contract, once he’s ended the season for Betis against Real Madrid this weekend.
