Eric Bailly’s time at Besiktas didn’t last long.

Last summer, the Turkish side signed the player on a free transfer from Manchester United, following the seven years he belonged to the Red Devils.

Now, as reported by Foot Mercato and confirmed by Besiktas, his contract with the Istanbul side has been rescinded.

The club made an official announcement and didn’t explain the reason. The website, meanwhile, recalled that he had already been removed from the squad for behaviour issues, and his agent recently made it clear that he wasn’t happy with the situation.

According to Foot Mercato, Bailly is now ready to make a return to Villarreal, where he used to play before joining Manchester United.

In his time at Besiktas, the defender made eight appearances at the beginning of the season, and even played a match earlier in December.

The defender collected 113 appearances for Manchester United, but never managed to stay fit for a satisfying period. That’s one of the reasons why the Red Devils chose to let him leave for free and bring Johnny Evans back to the squad last summer.
