It appears that Gazzetta dello Sport are currently on a mission to send Kalidou Koulibaly to the Premier League.
The Italian newspaper reported on Tuesday that a number of big clubs were ‘so fond’ of the Senegalese defender, including Manchester United and Manchester City.
As we said in our coverage of that particular article, the idea that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are after a centre-back isn’t exactly new, since they are still looking for the ideal partner for Harry Maguire.
Manchester City, on the other hand, are rather well covered in the position, having spent big to bolster that particular area of their squad last summer.
Despite that, Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday believe that both Manchester sides and Barcelona are ‘requesting’ the Napoli star.
While Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously made it clear he was reluctant to sell his top defender, that has since changed, and the belief is a deal could ‘go down’ this summer.
The price? The same as what was reported on Tuesday, with it ‘oscillating between €50-60m’.
That’s a considerable discount on the previous request from the Napoli owner, and it shows exactly how badly the Covid-19 pandemic has hit clubs around Europe.
