Arsenal have been regularly named as the main club interested in Aaron Hickey.
Earlier this week, Gazzetta dello Sport reported the Gunners are ‘pressing heavily’ to sign the Bologna left-back, who can also operate as a wing-back.
Arsenal’s interest in the 19-year-old is now reported by Il Resto del Carlino, who state he is ‘requested’ by the Gunners.
They further add the Serie A side view Hickey as someone they can ‘sacrifice’ to raise funds and use that money to reinvest on signings.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain the Bees made an offer of €11m, plus a percentage of the Scotland international’s future sale. This has not convinced the Italian club, who want at least €20m to part ways with the player.
An offer in this region or in excess of that figure ‘seemed plausible’. That’s because ‘sources close to Arsenal’ stated the Gunners would offer a total of €25m.
At the moment, no proposal from Mikel Arteta’s side has reached Bologna and the only one received is from Brentford.
The Bees have made an offer, while Arsenal and Napoli like Hickey. Therefore, the newspaper states ‘there will be an auction’ for the player this summer.
