West Ham United are being blamed for Nikola Vlasic’s slow start to life back at Torino, with the player set to go on a ‘special plan’ to help get him back to his best.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who cover the player today and put some blame on his former club for a disappointing start to this campaign.

Vlasic was one of the key men for Torino last season, shining while on loan from West Ham and becoming a key player under Ivan Juric.

He convinced enough that the Italian club bought him on a permanent basis this summer, although negotiations took months to conclude as West Ham refused to sell on the cheap after Torino didn’t activate a purchase clause in his loan deal.

That meant Vlasic spent much of the summer training alone and that has already been blamed for a slow start to the season.

Gazzetta continue that today, stating that Vlasic is ‘paying the price’ for a summer in which he was training more on an individual level than a team one.

He only arrived at Torino on August 8th, close to the start of the season, but it was clear he was not at optimum level after working at West Ham without being ‘at the centre of the project’.

That means he’s not quite up to scratch and the player, who was an ‘absolute reference’ for the club last season is yet to show up again. The problem appears to be an athletic one rather than a tactical one, though.

Thus a ‘special plan’ is being developed for the player to try and get him back up to scratch as quickly as possible and put West Ham firmly in the rear view mirror.
