Valencia’s Gonçalo Guedes is ‘one step away’ from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to Tribuna Deportiva, relayed by Plaza Deportiva.
The La Liga side hosted Atalanta in a pre-season friendly tie at the Mestalla on Saturday. Los Ches manager Gennaro Gattuso didn’t include the 25-year-old in the squad as a precaution ahead of an impending transfer.
Spanish journalist Salva Gomis explains that Wolves will pay €30m fixed fee plus an additional €5m as a potential bonus payment to Valencia. Gomis adds the player will leave the club tomorrow.
After the clash against the Serie A club, Gattuso confirmed his side received a convincing offer from the Premier League for the Portugal international. The manager’s comments are relayed in today’s edition of AS, who explain Guedes’ departure is ‘imminent’.
“[Miguel Ángel] Corona called me in the morning. He told me that an offer has been formalised. A lot of money. I don’t know the exact figure and surely, we have to accept it,” the former AC Milan manager said.
“I don’t have any promises of transfers, but I know the club knows that we have to complete the team. Surely, we are going to sign two or three players…”
Although local Valencia sources have stated Wolves are said to be the former Benfica man’s next destination, AS or Gattuso didn’t provide details of the Premier League club that made an offer for Guedes.
