Alvaro Negredo isn’t really concerned about his permanence at Middlesbrough after the end of the season.
On loan from Valencia since last summer, the striker has turned out to be a decent business for Boro, contributing six goals and four assists in the Premier League.
In a few months the English side will have to decide whether they’ll use their buying option to sign the player permanently or not.
Asked about this by Radio Onda Cero, Negredo said: “Let’s see what happens when the season is over. I’m happy here and playing, which is what I was interested in. The future doesn’t depend on me, and now I’ll enjoy it here until the end of the season”.
“It was a decision from everyone. I needed to play and the club wanted that I left,” (via Deporte Valenciano).
Despite having loaned Negredo out, Valencia ended up struggling with their form and a few injuries this season, which meant they had to add other strikers to the squad.
But the La Liga side won’t a choice over keeping the player, since the decision will be in Middlesbrough’s hands.
Valencia paid €28m to sign Negredo from Manchester City in 2015, and reports from England claim Boro will only have to pay €10m to have him beyond the summer.
