Having come up through the ranks of Le Harve’s youth system, Pape Gueye made his first team debut in 2017. However, he had to wait until this season to feature regularly.
The defensive midfielder has made 25 appearances in the Ligue 2, which includes only one substitute appearance, and his performances have seen him gain attention from elsewhere.
This is according to Le10 Sport, who claim the 21-year-old is of ‘great interest to Watford’ and his profile is highly valued in England.
Nigel Pearson’s side have taken further steps to make an effort in signing the Frenchman as the report adds the player is in ‘advanced’ talks with the Hornets.
It’s further explained that an agreement for Gueye to join the Premier League club in the summer would be ‘well under way’.
Le10 add that in the event of Watford completing Gueye’s signing, they could then loan him out to Udinese so that he can continue his development at the Serie A side.
Both clubs share the same owner, which is why it should not be difficult to find an agreement for the temporary transfer.
