Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng Taishan have submitted a £15m offer for Christian Benteke, as reported by the Times.
It was claimed the Belgium international would earn £150,000-a-week after tax, if he makes a switch to Far East, which will be £20,000 more than what he is current earning at Crystal Palace.
Het Belang van Limburg takes a look at the situation and sees if €9m per year would be sufficient to convince the striker to leave the club and move to China.
It’s claimed the 28-year-old’s family seems settled in London and the former Aston Villa man remains confident of regaining his old form.
For these reasons, he has no plans to leave Roy Hodgson’s side and join his compatriot Marouane Fellaini at Shandong Luneng Taishan.
The Eagles reportedly paid in excess of €30m to Liverpool to secure Benteke’s signature and in his debut season at Selhurst Park, he scored 15 goals. However, he’s only managed to score three time in the last two seasons, during which he was also troubled by injuries.
If the report from Belgium is to be believed, Benteke is unlikely to leave Palace and accept Shandong Luneng Taishan’s proposal.
