Dani Ceballos has a ‘foot and a half’ in Arsenal, according to El Confidencial, suggesting a deal for the Real Madrid midfielder is very close.
The Spanish outlet, in a lengthy article, explain how the Gunners trumped Tottenham to the 22-year-old’s signature, and it’s all down to Unai Emery.
It all started with Ceballos making it clear he wanted to be a regular starter somewhere, and saw himself playing around 40 games during the 2019-20 season.
Unable to do that at Real Madrid, and with Florentino Pérez unwilling to lose the player for good, it was decided a loan deal would be what’s best for all parties.
That’s when Emery waded in and led Arsenal’s charge to sign Ceballos.
The former Paris Saint-Germain manager ‘quickly contacted’ the La Liga side to show his interest, happy with a loan deal.
Emery then rang Ceballos and ‘explained to him he would be an important piece in his Arsenal next season’.
This, as you can imagine, was music to the young midfielder’s ears, and he quickly became attracted to the idea of playing under the Arsenal manager, who was ‘obsessed’ with closing the deal for the loan.
In fact, El Confidencial state that in the Santiago Bernabéu offices, the player’s temporary deal for next season is ‘seen as done’.
Following the trio of claims from Wednesday that the deal should be announced soon, this article seems to confirm that fact further, and we could actually be hours away from an official announcement.
