O Jogo report on Sunday evening that Gedson Fernandes to Tottenham Hotspur is very close to being done.
The midfielder is set to fly to London on Monday morning, according to the Portuguese newspaper, and his purpose is to finalise a transfer to the club.
Gedson will have to go through the routine medical tests and as long as there’s nothing wrong in that regard, and it’s not expected there will be, he can sign his Spurs contracts.
Like others, O Jogo go with the idea of an 18 month loan deal, and they put Tottenham’s buying option at €50-60m.
Earlier claims from the same newspaper stated a loan fee of €4.5m is also being paid by the Premier League club.
Jorge Mendes and Miguel Pinho have been presented as the agents behind the move to Spurs, with other agents trying to get the player to West Ham last week.
Gedson hasn’t enjoyed the progress many at Benfica hoped for this season, and the plan will be he can that elsewhere yet still bring in a big fee.
