Although most of the Portuguese press believes both Porto and Yacine Brahimi rejected West Ham’s attempt to sign the player, newspaper Record brings a different take on it.
They say that David Sullivan Jr delivered a €30m bid to the Dragons, and unlike most of the reports are saying, the Portuguese club were available to negotiate.
With Brahimi’s contract expiring next season, the amount could solve some of Porto’s problems, even though half of it would belong to a third-party group.
But the player’s refusalto join West Ham ended up convincing the Dragons that it would be better that way. After all, they would be keeping a competitive team, regardless of losing him for free next sumer or not.
Record claims that signing for West Ham now would be a problem for Brahimi, as by committing himself with a long contract he could spoil his plans to play at the highest level in the Premier League.
So next summer he’s having the chance to ‘make a big contract’. Let’s see if the top clubs he’s expecting will really come after him.
