If reports, and they’re very believable, are true about Jose Mourinho not being too fussed over James Rodriguez, then Jorge Mendes may need to have a quiet word with the player.
Marca reported this week that James is ‘convinced’ a transfer is happening this summer, and he’ll be leaving Real Madrid. Without Manchester United interest, James’ options will be further limited.
Despite claims coming from Colombia of an agreed deal, it’s always looked more like Mendes looking to find the best deal for James, and in that sense Manchester United would certainly fit.
James wouldn’t be taking a big step down in stature of club, and his options in that respect are very limited indeed.
Perhaps the best hope of Mendes and James is that Mourinho sees some of his other targets pass up a move to Manchester United.
With Antoine Griezmann taking any opportunity to explain how happy he is at Atletico Madrid, that may not be a hopeless cause.
