Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is likely to end up in Italy at some point, as least as far as Manuel Estiarte is concerned.
The City coach has long been linked with a move to Serie A, with reports last summer claiming that Juventus were keen on his signature.
Such a move never happened, but many believe it will happen at some point in future, presumably whenever he leaves Manchester City.
Italy is currently the only one of the top four European leagues Guardiola hasn’t managed in, with him already having led Barcelona in Spain, Bayern Munich in Germany and Manchester City in England.
And, according to Estiare, who is currently part of his team at the Etihad, his plan has always been to tick off all four at some point.
“Future in Italy? I can say that Pep loves Italy and has maintained friendships and affections,” he told Secolo XIX, relayed by Calciomercato.it.
“And the Serie A is recovering from less splendid moments it has experienced in recent times.
“The starting idea, when Guardiola started, was to train in the four big leagues: Spain, Germany, England and Italy.
“I don’t tell him what will happen, but why not? It’s in his plans.”
Quite when Guardiola ends up in Italy remains to be seen. While it seems almost inevitable that he’ll make the move, it may not be for a few years yet.
Much is likely to depend on which clubs are available, with it unlikely Guardiola will head to anywhere but Juventus were he to move to Serie A.
They’re happy with Maurizio Sarri at present so perhaps once his time at the club comes to an end, Guardiola’s chance to make the move will present itself.
