Pep Guardiola has been backed by former Barcelona director Toni Freixa to be a success in Italy should he leave Manchester City this summer.
Guardiola has been heavily linked with a move to Juventus, who are known to have looked at trying to hire him last summer.
They ultimately hired Maurizio Sarri from Chelsea but his indifferent first year in charge has fuelled speculation that a move for Guardiola could be on the cards.
They have only been helped by UEFA’s decision to ban Manchester City from the Champions League, which could complicate Guardiola staying at the club.
While the Catalan has publicly declared he intends to stay at the Etihad, he is yet to sign an extension on his contract, which expires next summer.
As a result, speculation continues to mount that he could be set to depart and Freixa, who worked with Guardiola at Barcelona, is backing him for success.
“In my opinion, Guardiola is the best coach of the world,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
“He is one of the few technicians who can decide where to train.
“If he wants to work in Serie A, I am sure he will triumph there as he has already done in Spain, Germany and England with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.”
