Pierre-Michel Lasogga arrived in Leeds United certainly under a cloud of doubt. A tough time at Hamburg, continually highlighted in the local German media, was turned into something of a circus when the club’s chief investor dubbed his striker the flop of the century.
That was right in the middle of Lasogga’s mini Leeds United transfer saga, but didn’t put the Elland Road club off. Whilst there will have been doubts over whether Lasogga could rekindle his form in the Championship he’s got off to a great start… and Leeds United are top of the league.
Lasogga’s brilliant performance and goals against Burton at the weekend were followed up with an assist against Birmingham City, in a 2-0 victory which takes Leeds to the summit.
Hamburger Morgenpost report Lasogga is back in Germany today, ready for the birth of his child. They reported the timeframe on Tuesday initially, and just like everything else for Lasogga, things are working perfectly to plan.
Coming in surrounded by doubt, Lasogga now has a smile on his face to carry back home.
Due to the Lasogga connection, Leeds United’s great start to the season is getting widespread coverage in Germany.
The club genuinely seems to be growing this season, on and off the pitch.
