There were repeat rumours ahead of the summer that Edinson Cavani wanted to leave Manchester United and return to South America.
Given an extended break at the end of last season, the striker wasn’t available for the start of the campaign, having to travel to Spain, and spend some time there, from Uruguay so he could avoid hotel quarantine.
Boca Juniors were repeatedly linked and haven’t been afraid to make their interest in the Manchester United player public. That option would surely be for when Cavani’s contract expires, as it’s unlikely Boca would want to pay a transfer fee.
Recently there’s been weak rumours about interest from Real Madrid, and Mundo Deportivo have spoken to someone close to Cavani, who teased a little over a January move.
The ‘entourage’ member is said to have replied “perhaps” when asked a winter move to Real Madrid, and went on to say that things change quickly in football, hinting that anything can happen.
For now this doesn’t seem like a concrete track for Real Madrid, and, of course, Manchester United would have the final word anyway.
