Nathan Ake joined Manchester City from Bournemouth in the summer 2020 transfer window, costing Pep Guardiola’s side around £40m.

In his first season with the club, the defender picked up around 1000 minutes across all competitions. That almost doubled during the following campaign, and this season the Dutchman is going the right way to beat that.

He started and finished the derby against Manchester United at the weekend, and Guardiola has shown he’s not afraid to rely on Ake when other options aren’t available.

Manuel Akanji arriving from Borussia Dortmund during the summer means there’s more competition for places, with Manchester City having the two already mentioned, along with Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see one of the five leave next summer and that’s seen Inter Milan linked with Ake.

FCInterNews report the player could replace compatriot Stefan de Vrij at the San Siro. A €25/30m fee is mentioned, and there’s even the suggestion of a loan with a right to buy.

That seems quite optimistic on behalf of Inter, and they may have to dig a little deeper for a deal.
