Despite being sent off in the game against Aston Villa, Luis Sinisterra remains one of the better players in Jesse Marsch’s side at Leeds United.

The Colombian was bought from Feyenoord this summer to help fill the hole left by Raphinha’s sale to Barcelona, and he kicked off his time at Elland Road in style with three goals and an assist in his first seven games.

The red card against Aston Villa will keep him out of the next fixture, but he should return back into Marsch’s plans as soon as that suspension is served.

Sinisterra arrived at Leeds following a season with the aforementioned Eredivisie side that was comprised of 23 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions, which saw him fully demonstrate his array of abilities in both the Netherlands and the Conference League.

This, according to Feyenoord manager Arne Slot, was the product of gradual development, and he believes there are others in his team capable of following in the Colombia international’s footsteps.

He said, relayed by Voetbal Primeur: “I believe in development. Luis Sinisterra didn’t have it all in his first year. It took him three years to make a difference for us every week. I think we have a number of players who have the qualities to be able to do that.”

While Sinisterra probably has even more room to grow at Leeds, like Raphinha did, the Elland Road side were definitely spending money on a player that could impact the team immediately, unlike their deal for Wilfried Gnonto.

Therefore, perhaps they should keep an eye on Feyenoord going forward to see if they can capitalise on Slot’s hard work once more?
