On Wednesday morning we covered some indecision in Italy, over what’s happening with Marco Silvestri.
With many reports saying he’s on the verge of becoming Hellas Verona’s new goalkeeper, it was surprising to see a completing contrasting one, which claimed he’s set to sign a renewal.
That renewal article is on its own in an ever increasing mountain of Italian claims and insistence that the Leeds United transfer will happen.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s Hellas Verona section has even done something which reads like a PR piece on the player, making it sound like he came to England a boy and will leave a man.
There’s even a good spin put on Silvestri being dropped for Rob Green, with his penalty saves against Norwich City ‘never to be forgotten’ by the Leeds United faithful, explain Gazzetta.
The report makes it sound like a transfer is only a matter of time, but once again there’s no mention of of fee, and it very much seems like Hellas Verona are expecting a freebie, or just to pay a token amount.
It could be the lack of a fee which may make Leeds consider keeping Silvestri for the final year of his contract, and offloading Green’s higher wages, with Felix Wiedwald as first choice.
