Marco Silvestri’s time at Leeds Untied was likely over the moment the club signed Felix Wiedwald.
With Rob Green extending his Leeds United contract in March, Silvestri was always going to be the man to be pushed out, especially with interest expected in Italy.
Every now and again, a Serie A club needing a goalkeeper, first or second choice, will consider Silvestri, but Hellas Verona seem to be taking things quite a bit further.
Sky Italia report, via Gazzetta’s Hellas section, that Leeds United and Hellas Verona are ‘close to an agreement’ for the the Italian to move. Talks are ongoing, and there’s an assumption a deal is near for the goalkeeper to return to Italy.
The deal is ‘about to close’, according to the Italian claims.
There’s no mention of what kind of fee Leeds United will be receiving, but given Silvestri only has a year left on his contract, and Hellas Verona aren’t exactly big spenders, it’s not going to be significant.
