Fanatik have claimed Galatasaray are in final discussions to sign Stoke City’s Giannelli Imbula, and the midfielder is keen on the move, after his wife lived in Istanbul for five years.
The former Istanbul stay of Imbula’s wife is seen in Turkey as a big plus point on a transfer, as the Turkish media look for reasons to be optimistic.
The Turkish newspaper have reported that Galatasaray CEO Cenk Ergun was in England last night with Imbula’s representatives, and they’ve agreed on personal terms for the player.
Galatasaray are prepared to pay Imbula €1.6m per year and €5K for every point they pick up in the Turkish league and Europa League, according to Fanatik’s latest report. The Turkish giants are also ready to offer €1.8m to Stoke City for a one year loan fee.
Fanatik expects Stoke City will now allow Imbula to leave on loan, because the player isn’t receiving interest from other clubs willing to take him on permanent transfer.
Galatasaray should be able to guarantee Imbula more playing time, following his frustrations at Stoke City last season. The Frenchman hardly figured in the second half of last season with the Premier League side, and he needs to find a club which will give him games.
