After Antoine Griezmann made public his decision to leave Atletico Madrid, the forward has continued to be linked with Barcelona and, more recently, Paris Saint-Germain.
Three days ago, the 28-year-old told Telefoot “I know where I want to go, and the sacrifices I have to make to get there.”
At the Camp Nou, his comments were interpreted in a positive way, and the belief is the World Cup winner wants to join Ernesto Valverde’s side in the summer.
The feeling is growing because ‘Only Barca’ is splashed on the front page of Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
The former Real Sociedad star’s priority is to sign for the La Liga winners and he’s already ‘ruled out’ the option of moving to PSG.
The Catalan newspaper once again makes it clear Griezmann has to take a pay cut to join Barca. He will also have to make sacrifices at the tactical level because he is unlikely to get the freedom he enjoyed at Atletico, with the Blaugrana.
In addition to this, the attacker has to win over the fans as opinion is still divided over his signing since he rejected the club last summer.
Mundo states there are several factors which suggest the player is only betting on Valverde’s side, despite interest from elsewhere. Even though PSG is a top club, it is not at the level of Barca and the Frenchman already made up his mind a long time ago.
Griezmann’s current release clause is set at €200m, but that will drop to €120m on July 1st. The report claims this is when Barcelona are expected to make efforts to sign him.
